Guest Speaker: Les Bullis author and fellow boater –
Les has boated in Oregon, Washington and BC for over 60 years. He has owned several boats during this time, 5 of which he built or rebuilt. He acquired his first boat at the age of14, a 14ft. canvas over aluminum frame boat then he his last boat being a 32ft wooden double cabin command bridge cruiser that he restored and rebuilt.
“I have read several books about enjoyable cruising experiences but no one seemed to write about their ill-fated experiences that I was sure we all had at one time or another. So I decided it would be fun and maybe a little humorous to write the book “Little Black Cloud Called Harold”.
He will talk about some of his boating adventures, both good and challenging, as well as some of his boat building experiences. The evening will be topped off with a 20 min. video about buying and rebuilding an old derelict of a wooden boat that was the last boat he and his wife owned.
MAKE AN EVENING OF IT AND ENJOY A LOVELY MEAL AT WILLY’S GALLEY
Here is how:
Call Tammy at 778-871-1177 and make a reservation for dinner (she has really good prices) and you can even have a beer or wine with your meal! They will keep the dinner menu open until 6:15 so get there by then. You can also just drop in before 6 pm (their closing time) and Tammy will do her best to accommodate you.
Why not come on your way home from work and don’t be so rushed to make it on time to the event.
We have enjoyed eating there and found the homemade soup and the Original Willy Burger to be spectacular! So don’t miss out on this fulsome evening we highly recommend you stop in for dinner!
A bit bout Willy’s Galley:
Willy’s Galley is owned and operated by a fellow boater and Port Moody Squadron member and his daughter. They are offering Squadrons like ours an excellent deal on using their space and will provide the refreshments for the evening – home cooked by Tammy. They are a small scale restaurant located in a lovely nautical setting in Reed Point Marina.
